Aryna Sabalenka concluded the tour with an impressive 23-3 Grand Slam match record.

The top-ranked player Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth career Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Consistency

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open in May. She spent the entire year as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Statistics

Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and earned a historic eleven million pounds in earnings.

She received nearly eighty percent of the votes cast by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

  • Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking extended hiatus following the birth of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
  • Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked outside the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
  • Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second career Grand Slam title together.
  • Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
