The Reds Will Not Change Forward-Thinking Philosophy In the Face of Recent Slump, Says Arne Slot

Arne Slot has announced that the team leadership share his views regarding the recent downturn and he has no intention of discarding their offensive approach in pursuit of a solution. The head coach acknowledged that six losses in seven outings was below standard ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.

Growing Expectations During Difficult Period

Slot accepted the scrutiny was intense before his makeshift team were eliminated from the Carabao Cup against the London club. However, he insisted that this urgency to stop the losing streak is not coming from the club's ownership or football administration following a summer transfer outlay of approximately £450 million.

"We share common perspectives," commented the Liverpool boss, whose side will meet Los Blancos in the Champions League and play against Manchester City in the English top flight.

Squad Quality Continues Unchallenged

Slot believes his team "have an unbelievable squad if they are completely available and completely set for the schedule ahead". He said that the transfer window acquisitions in talents including the German international and Alexander Isak, who is likely to miss out again against the Birmingham club through injury, had left the club "in an excellent position for the immediate prospects and the long-term future".

Team Cohesion Issues

When questioned about why his team were taking so long to gel, he responded: "That's not particularly helpful. 'What are the reasons?' I give an explanation and people say I'm coming up with excuses. I can list multiple factors why we are underperforming or experiencing losses as we do but, as I consistently state, there are never enough excuses to have a results sequence as we had now."

  • No matter if I could identify multiple factors
  • Leading this club you cannot lose
  • The reality is six defeats in seven games

Defensive Numbers

Only the Lancashire club (21) have conceded more clear opportunities from normal situations this season than Slot's team (nineteen). The first-place team, the North London club, have faced two. Yet Liverpool's coach rejects the team has been overly exposed and maintains there is no justification to sacrifice his attacking principles for a more pragmatic style after ten matches without a clean sheet.

"From my perspective we don't allowing many opportunities so I see no justification to modify our philosophy completely but we have to enhance in preventing goals," he declared.

Recent Examples

"Against Manchester United, how many opportunities did we allow? Against Eintracht Frankfurt when we were 3-1 up, we scarcely gave up a shot on target. In all the games we have played so far we haven't allowed a numerous openings. Not at all. We do give away a somewhat more than the prior term but that stems from us being behind early so you take a bit more risk. But in general I don't believe that our issue is that we concede too many chances. Our issue is we are unable to finish the openings we produce."
