Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has presented what is being called the largest reforms to address unauthorized immigration "in recent history".

The proposed measures, patterned after the more rigorous system enacted by Scandinavian policymakers, establishes asylum approval temporary, restricts the review procedure and threatens visa bans on states that block returns.

Temporary Asylum Approvals

Individuals approved for protection in the UK will be permitted to remain in the country for limited periods, with their situation reassessed biannually.

Aid would still be available for "individuals in poverty" but will be refused from those with work authorization who fail to, and from people who violate regulations or resist deportation orders.
