Iran Reports Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, Amid Widespread Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing offensive against it by the US and Israel.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is unclear and the American officials has not commented.
Airspace Engagements
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on Iran carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump urging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a series of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
