One-time economic leader Larry Summers is leaving the governing body at the ChatGPT creator, just several days after a batch of digital correspondence between him and deceased financier the disgraced billionaire became widely known.

Summers remarked in a release that he was "grateful for the chance to have contributed, enthusiastic about the prospects of the enterprise, and anticipate tracking their progress".

Summers, who once presided over the prestigious university, stated on recently that he would be withdrawing from public responsibilities due to his association with Epstein.

The newly public messages showed that the economist exchanged messages with Jeffrey Epstein until the eve of the financier's 2019 arrest for suspected sex trafficking of underage individuals.

In another announcement, the artificial intelligence company expressed it understood Summers' decision to resign.

This news comes after the entire Congress of the US legislature agreed on Tuesday to endorse a bill that would mandate the Department of Justice to release its documents on Epstein.

The measure will then head to the administration of the White House for approval. He has stated he plans to approve the bill, after reversing his position on the subject following objections from his followers.

He presided over the institution from five years and continues to be a professor there. When stating his withdrawal from public roles earlier on Monday, he indicated he would persist with his academic responsibilities.

Following Summers' announcement on Monday, the Washington think tank, a liberal policy institute in Washington where he was a prominent member, verified that he was not affiliated with the group.

The former official became part of the leadership of the technology firm, which makes the AI chatbot, in last year - following a failed attempt to remove its top executive Sam Altman.
