'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Families of Missing Young People Desperately Seek Information After Alpine Fire

The families of teenagers lost after a deadly fire at a establishment in a Switzerland's alpine town are enduring an excruciating wait for answers and pleading for information about their family members publicly.

The fire engulfed the Le Constellation bar in the alpine resort, located in the Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of New Year's Day. Circulated images depict the roof structure igniting as beverages with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have warned that it could take an extended period to identify the fatalities of the fire, which resulted in the death of 40 people and hurt another scores more. A spokesperson said on the latest update that the majority of the those hurt have been identified, with the process still underway to identify the remaining few.

In the interim, loved ones have been taking to social media to appeal for information about their friends who were in attendance that fateful night.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are not yet determined, according to an public plea from his family.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, told a publication that she had returned to Lausanne to see if he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the same in the capital, but did not locate him.

"I'm living a nightmare, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in a serious state. It's horrific," she stated.

She added that some of his friends had been found with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "There are no words; they went through hell."

The Italy's government has indicated that six of its nationals have not been located.

Young athlete Emanuele Galeppini, sixteen, was last heard from around midnight on December 31st, according to.

The Italian Golf Federation has stated that he is deceased, without directly referencing the fire, honoring a "young athlete who carried with him dedication and authentic values."

Giovanni Tamburi, sixteen, is likewise among the missing. His parent told reporters that he had been on holiday but had ventured out with a group and ended up at the venue.

"A close friend said they fled after the fire broke out and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he they were separated," she said, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.

One of his educators commented, "He was known for his kindness and smile, combined with great maturity. Often offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in the country, was also present on that night, according to sources.

Her brother has published an appeal online, saying the family has had "no news" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also reported missing.
