Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing angels, demons, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.

Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of heroes who will branch out from the main group to embark on their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

The Reason for Division

Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into the hidden lair, assaulting the character, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then settled his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having defied his house’s orders to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their position as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his rescue and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are sought by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and Wicander defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • The fighter is marked for death by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to head to the remote area in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

From the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Strategists tables.

Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on next week.
