Brian Eno Calls On Backing to Send Palestinian Solidarity Song to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to propel a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort hopes to deliver assistance to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

An Opportunity for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians this festive season. He noted the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's powerful central theme.

“It occupies a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would choose to perish with honor than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a respectful existence that we merit as a people.”

Recording Origins and Contributing Musicians

The track was produced in the wake of a solidarity show held in September. Initially planned to be performed and recorded live, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The diverse array of performers contributing to Lullaby includes a range of acclaimed names from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a significant sum for relief efforts.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was crafted by a team of music creators. The song blends a fusion of the original Arabic with freshly written English words.

The group managing the project have clarified that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a dedicated fund. These proceeds will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“We haven't set a specific target,” a representative explained. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a few million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all making this cause better known and proving that another narrative exists.”

The song is launching at the end of the week. Additionally, a full recording of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a popular streaming site from the 19th of December.
