Barça to Host Inaugural Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend
Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league 30 months after they moved out to allow renovations to start.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, a rise from the old capacity. The club said completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted an open training session at the Camp Nou in early November. The club said they are seeking authorization from Uefa to host the next European match versus the German side in December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at Estadio Olímpic Lluís Companys.
