Adult Swim's Premier Fresh Series of 2025 Earns a Significant Renewal for Two More Seasons.

Last October, Adult Swim welcomed back its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. However, shortly thereafter, the network launched a completely new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, reminiscent of a animated take of a serene talk show. At a time often defined by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness struck a chord and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Two-Season Greenlight

In mid-December, the network revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for two additional seasons. This provides creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four central characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the fans of the show who took a chance on the show and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for seasons to come."

Network Praise

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and oddly captivating." He shouted out the fans who embraced the show and championed its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you got behind this new show, rooted for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this endearing family navigate their simple existence.

In earlier interviews, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to evolve comedy past its long-running sarcastic tone. He attributed this trend to various cultural shifts.

“There's this level of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” said Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we need to laugh at something different now. Comedy has to evolve.”

Future Seasons

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal guarantees audiences additional episodes to enjoy the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
